Course description

THIS IS NOT A BEGINNER COURSE.

You've Learned the Fundamentals. Now It's Time to Take Your Skills to the Next Level.

Our Pistol 2: Prepared Civilian course is designed for individuals who already have handgun experience and are ready to improve and accelerate their pistol-handling skills, increase their accuracy, develop greater control, and become more efficient shooters.

This advanced training experience goes beyond basic handgun fundamentals. Students will work on developing faster, smoother, and more consistent firearm manipulation while learning how to balance speed, accuracy, and safety through hands-on instruction and practical exercises.

What Will You Improve?

Throughout the course, students will focus on:

  • Speed & Accuracy: Improve shooting efficiency while maintaining accuracy and control.
  • Holster Draw Techniques: Develop smoother, more consistent handgun presentation from inside-the-waistband (IWB) and outside-the-waistband (OWB) holsters.
  • Muscle Memory: Strengthen existing pistol-handling skills through structured repetition and practical exercises.
  • Reloading Skills: Improve consistency and efficiency during magazine changes.
  • Target Transitions: Develop greater control and awareness when transitioning between multiple targets.
  • Retreat Mechanics: Practice safe movement principles while maintaining firearm awareness and control.
  • Timed Performance Exercises: Learn to measure your performance, identify areas for improvement, and work toward becoming a more efficient shooter.

Classroom Training Meets Live-Fire Experience

This four-hour training experience begins with two hours of classroom instruction and hands-on practical exercises, where students develop and refine their techniques before moving to the shooting range.

The course then transitions to a 90-minute supervised range block, including safety briefings, student readiness checks, one hour of live-fire training, and range closeout.

During live-fire training, students will apply their skills through instructor-approved exercises designed to improve accuracy, firearm control, consistency, and overall shooting performance.

It's Not a Race. It's About Progress.

Being faster means nothing if you sacrifice safety or accuracy.

Pistol 2: Prepared Civilian teaches students to find the right balance between speed, precision, and control. Our goal is to help you develop more efficient shooting habits while maintaining safe firearm handling at every stage of training.

This course is ideal for Journey Academy graduates and other experienced handgun owners who want to continue developing their skills beyond the beginner level.

Certificate of Completion

Upon successful completion, students will receive a Pistol 2: Prepared Civilian Certificate of Completion, available through their Commonwealth student portal.
